HPC infrastructures and scientific software

As common baseline shared by all the computational activities this research line is dedicated to setup cutting edge computational environments to help exploiting at best the hardware and software tools.

The optimal exploitation of the existing resources together with the capability to face new technological challenges in the field of High Performance Scientific Computation involves distinct complementary actions as in the following bullet list. Activities within this research line have produced notable results:

• a spinoff company is now operating providing similar services at industrial level
• a scientific software project (Quantum Espresso) widely adopted worldwide for quantum simulations.
